3 leg back-to-back event:

Swim – Indoor pool – The first leg is the indoor pool swim.  Participants will be put into heats of approximately 15 starting with the oldest age groups.  Heats will be approximately 5 minutes apart for the older age groups; 3-4 minutes for the younger age groups.  Participants begin in the water separated into 6 lanes.  Younger age groups will go first.  I will ask that the weakest swimmers swim along the wall lane.  Kids can rest along the wall or on the lap lanes at any time if a rest is needed.

Note: The transition area is down a path about 50 meters from the pool.  Participants can pre-position sandals or slip on shoes along the fence right outside the pool exit to wear to the transition area.  Or parents can hand the shoes to the participants as they exit onto the path.  Shoes are not mandatory and may not be necessary.  All spectators must keep clear of the exit area and path to and from the transition area.  The path is a paved road and grass shoulder.  All swimmers must stay to the far left of the road on the grass.  Make sure you stay to the far left because the paved portion of the path will also be the start and finish of the bike course.

You will enter the Transition area through the designated entry point.  At this point we will capture your swim time.  You will move to your bike and prepare for the bike portion.  YOU MUST HAVE A PROPER BIKE HELMET.  Check & make sure that it fits, that it is not cracked.  Most have certified stickers inside.  Ensure your race # is on the front of your shirt.  You will also receive a sticker for your helmet.  Make sure it is in the center front of your helmet.  You will exit with your bike at the designated bike exit/return point to the mount/dismount point.  There you will mount your bike and ride the designated/marked bike course now on community paved trails.  See map.  Ages 5-8 will bike a total of 2 miles; ages 9-15 will bike a total of 4 miles.  Cones & Arrows & Volunteers will be along the course.  When you complete your bike portion you will dismount at the mount/dismount point and run your bike down to the transition area.  Enter through the bike return point.  Go back to your spot and prepare for the run course.

You will exit the Transition area through the run exit and run out along the new run course.  See course map.  Ages 5-8 will run a total of .75 miles; ages 9-10 will run a total of 1.5 miles.

You finish by running through the finish arch.

Additional Notes:

Parents of younger children are welcome to accompany their child along the bike and/or run course, if needed, as long as they don’t provide an advantage in anyway.  I would like to see kids do as much as they possibly can – transitioning and all.  I would like parents to stay clear of the transition area.  If a child needs help with their shoes or something, you can have them pull off to the side once they exit the transition area.  First timers, it might be good to practice or at least talk through the transition.

Water points – the only water point will be at the transition area/finish.

It is important that you have all the equipment you need in the transition area for the bike and run.
